Wake Up Coffee Face Scrub~!

Hello! Sorry that this post is so late but I have been a little busy, please forgive me? (*´д`*)

Anyway, I was meaning to do this post last week but I went to my first concert! It was really fun, though afterwards I thought that I had gone deaf and that my voice would never return back to normal! It did eventually though so all is well and then after my concert I decided that even though it is summer, my house needed a good spring cleaning. So, I have been super busy and I apologize for being so busy and I hope soon I will be able to make more posts! With all of that said let’s move onto the topic of the day!

Let me start by saying that I am by no means a morning person! If I have to get up before 9:30 then I am going to need a few cups of coffee and more throughout the day. I have a problem of not getting enough sleep and staying asleep during the night and I find that I sleep the best in the early hours of the morning. It is kind of an annoying habit to deal with but I am working on it… slowly… TT^TT Ahem, so because I can’t sleep the day away all the time I have had to find easy, quick, and better ways to wake up then five cups of coffee. That’s when I got the idea of making a coffee facial scrub to use on the mornings that I was extra sleepy. If coffee can work in my body then shouldn’t coffee also work on my face?  Yes!

Coffee is one of the world’s most consumed beverages and it is full of caffeine which not only helps to wake up the body but it can also help wake up the skin. There are also a lot of antioxidants in coffee that will help prevent free radicals from hurting us. Moderate consumption of coffee also helps to prevent all kinds of diseases and keeps us alert and focused. So, coffee can really be good for our bodies as well as our faces and you can make this mask while you drink your coffee!

For this facial scrub you are going to need:

  • Ground Coffee (Not Decaf)
  • Coffee Maker
  • Sugar
  • Milk (Optional)
  •  Bowl/Spoon
  •  Hair Ties/Towels (Keeps the mess to a minimum)
Essentially, you are just going to make coffee like you normally would and save the coffee grinds!

 *:・゚✧Let’s Start! *:・゚✧

Step One:

Make coffee like you normally would for the day. For me I just put ground coffee into my coffee maker, add water and let it do its magic! Once the coffee is done brewing maybe have a cup while you wait for the coffee grinds to cool off.

Step Two:

The coffee grinds may still be a little warm but that is okay because they will cool off once we are done making the scrub! Grab a cereal bowl and put the coffee grinds in it like below:

The grinds may be a little wet and have some coffee dripping from it but that is what we want! Also, I used enough coffee grinds for 12 cups of coffee. However, you don’t have to use as much but you can always save your left overs for about two days in the fridge.

Step Three:

We are going to add about five spoonfuls of normal, white granulated sugar to the coffee grinds in the bowl and stir it with a spoon until everything is well blended. Don’t be alarmed if all of the sudden your coffee mixture looks like you added water to it. We want that to happen so that the liquid can get drawn out and everything mixes well together. So much liquid:

Step Four:

This step is optional but I added a splash of milk to my coffee scrub so that I could get the added benefits that milk has on the skin. You could certainly use water or nothing at all if you would like. If you do add milk or water, stir everything again so that it blends evenly like this:

Step Five:

This scrub is very, very, VERY messy and so I would advise you to put your hair and bangs up into a hair tie. I also advise you to lay down a towel around the sink because coffee grinds are a pain to clean up. Also, keep in mind that if you have to leave in a hurry make sure to give yourself enough time to make sure you have all of the coffee grinds off of your skin and hair.

Step Six:

Scrub away! What I did was I used my spoon to get the mixture into my hands better because it is a bit watery. Then I would rub it in my hands for a few seconds and the scrub my face gently for a couple minutes.  Make sure to avoid getting this in your eyes! Once I rinsed off the scrub I took a cloth and dipped in into the liquid part of the mixture and used it as a mask almost. I put the liquidly coffee on my face and let it sit there for a minute and the rinsed again.

Now, you may want to wash your face with a light cleanser because sometimes a coffee smell can linger but if you don’t mind then just apply some moisturizer and enjoy your now soft, refreshed skin!

That’s all there really is to this mask, basically you just make yourself some coffee and reuse the coffee grinds to help your skin wake up and renew itself. I love this mask because not only does it help me wake up but it is also easy, cost effective, and your skin will love you for it. There are a lot of high end products on the market now that are pushing the benefit of caffeine and how it will renew your skin. Instead of paying top dollar just make your own facial scrub/mask that works wonders!

I use this mask probably three times a week, like I would normally do for a facial scrub. However, the mask part of it you can use more often if you would like and just save the grinds for later. I hope that you find this facial scrub to work for you and I hope you enjoyed this post! Also, sorry that the pictures were a bit bright... there was a lot of sun in my kitchen this morning! O.O"
